The fixture design is generally carried out according to the specific requirements of a certain process after the machining process of the part is formulated. The possibility of fixture realization should be fully considered when formulating the process flow. If necessary, the process flow can be revised. The design quality of the fixture should be measured by whether the processing quality of the workpiece can be stably guaranteed, the production efficiency is high, the cost is low, the chip removal is convenient, the operation is safe, the labor is saved, and the manufacturing and maintenance are easy.

Basic principles of fixture design

  1.  Satisfy the stability and reliability of workpiece positioning during use;

  2.  Sufficient bearing or clamping strength to ensure that the workpiece is processed on the fixture;

  3.  to meet the requirements of simple and quick operation during the clamping process;

  4.  The easily damaged parts must have a structure that can be quickly replaced. When the conditions are sufficient, it is best not to use other tools;

  5.  to meet the reliability of repeated positioning of the fixture during adjustment or replacement;

       6.  Avoid complex structures and high costs as much as possible;

       7.  As far as possible, choose standard parts as spare parts;

  8.  Systematization and standardization of the company's internal products will be formed.

Basic knowledge of fixture design

  A good machine tool fixture must meet the following basic requirements:

  1.  The key to ensuring the machining accuracy and machining accuracy of the workpiece lies in the correct selection of positioning datum, positioning method and positioning components, and positioning error analysis if necessary. Attention should also be paid to the influence of the structure of other parts in the fixture on the machining accuracy to ensure that the fixture can meet the machining accuracy requirements of the workpiece.

  2.  The complexity of the special fixture to improve production efficiency should be compatible with the production capacity. Various fast and efficient clamping mechanisms should be used as much as possible to ensure convenient operation, shorten auxiliary time, and improve production efficiency.

    3.  The structure of the special fixture with good technical performance should be as simple and reasonable as possible to facilitate manufacturing, assembly, adjustment, inspection, maintenance, etc.

    4.  The fixture with good performance should have sufficient strength and rigidity, simple operation, labor saving, safe and reliable. Under the premise that objective conditions permit and are economical and applicable, mechanical clamping devices such as pneumatic and hydraulic should be used as much as possible to reduce the labor intensity of the operators. The jig should also be easy to remove the chip. When necessary, a chip removal structure can be set to prevent the chips from damaging the positioning of the workpiece and the tool, and prevent the accumulation of chips from bringing a lot of heat and causing deformation of the processing system.

  5.  The economical special fixture should use standard components and standard structure as much as possible, and strive to have a simple structure and easy manufacturing to reduce the manufacturing cost of the fixture. Therefore, the necessary technical and economic analysis of the fixture plan should be carried out according to the sequence and production capacity in the design to improve the economic benefits of the fixture in production.

   It is very important to accumulate experience in fixture design. Sometimes design is one thing, in actual application it is another. Therefore, good design is a process of continuous accumulation and summary.
